Principle
Perform as many reps or rounds of a circuit as possible within a set time (8 to 20 minutes). There is no imposed rest time — you manage your own effort freely. The score (number of rounds/reps) allows you to measure progression between sessions.
Benefits
- Objective measurement of progression
- Mental toughness development (pushing beyond limits)
- High training density
Practical Example
AMRAP 12 minutes: 10 Push-ups + 15 Squats + 20 Mountain Climbers — count the number of full rounds completed.
Safety Tips
Technique degrades with fatigue, so stay vigilant. Fewer rounds with good form is always better than more rounds with poor technique.
